Darren Walter


Darren has a 25 year career with a background that includes considerable arts, community, commercial, education and public sector management and a strong knowledge of programming, producing, audience development, community and social engagement, events management, hospitality, arts education, accommodation, health & safety, legislative requirements and excellent resource and planning skills.

Currently Darren splits his time between acting as Artistic Director of Cornerstone Arts Centre in Didcot and running his successful producing house – Turnpike Productions. Turnpike delivers a wide range of services to emerging, mid-career and established performing & combined arts organisations. These services include tour booking, show development, venue partnership management, business development, strategic planning, fundraising, audience development and creative learning planning.

Darren has previously worked at festivals and events such as Edinburgh Fringe, Glastonbury Festival, British Grand Prix, Brighton Fringe, Orlando Fringe, Download Festival, Olympics 2012 and V Festival and worked for companies such as Imitating the Dog, Superbolt Theatre, ZooCo, Haste Theatre, White Slate, Single Shoe, 6FootStories and of course Justice in Motion. Darren has also been the programmer of work at venues such as The Castle Theatre, Bridge House Theatre, Gloucester Guildhall, Warwick University, Westminster University & Axiom Arts Centre.
