The phone vibrates…a message…times, numbers, deals…and a warning. All in code. So young and so troubled. At home, in school, on the street. There’s no way out – is there?
CODE, Justice in Motion’s urban odyssey into County Lines and Knife Crime, is a spectacular blend of physical theatre, parkour and trials bike stunts with live rap and music. On an urban playground, skilled athletes and performers show what is happening to our young people exploited by organised drug crime gangs.
We are seeking additional team members for our 2025 Tour across the UK. We are looking for excellent performers and athletes with strong stage presence, who have an interest in social justice and community, to join the cast of CODE as a double in some of the roles.
Nicky
Playing Age 12-14, male
Strong acting, and parkour skills required, as well as some skateboarding ability. Main character in the show, the young teenager that is being groomed, and gets involved in county lines.
Mother
Playing Age 30-45, female
Strong acting, dance and parkour skills required. Loving, nurturing, also concerned for Nicky. Emotionally strong actress needed to carry this role, and dive into dysfunctional memories at times.
Rapper / Teacher
Playing Age 30-50, any gender
Strong acting, and rapping skills required. This cast member narrates the story through live raps, and switches into various roles throughout the show (narrator, teacher, bouncer, drug dealer, train conductor). Has to carry the show, and command authority, with emotional depth and care towards Nicky.
Trials Rider / Ensemble
Playing Age 18-30, any gender
Excellent trials bike skills, and good acting and movement skills required. This cast member is part of the ensemble and switches between smaller roles.
For the tour this year we are also recruiting:
Tour Manager / Costume Supervisor
This dual-role position requires a highly organised and adaptable individual to oversee team logistics, while managing and maintaining costumes throughout the tour. Someone positive, proactive, detail-oriented, with ability to multi-tasks and a deep care for people. Strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work independently under pressure are essential. A full UK driving license is required, as is your own vehicle in order to transport costumes.
As Tour Manager, you will be looking after the cast and crew, liaise with venues and partners whilst on site, and ensure the smooth operation of each performance. You will be responsible for keeping the team on schedule and troubleshooting any logistical challenges that arise on the road.
As Costume Supervisor, you will maintain costume continuity, assist with quick changes, handle repairs and upkeep, and manage laundry throughout the tour.
In essence – as tour manager you will be looking after the team and the costumes, and be in the know of any logistical questions on site!
We encourage, and especially welcome applications from people of diverse ethnicities and backgrounds. Travel bursaries are available for selected applicants to make auditions as accessible as possible.
Successful applicants will be required to attend all rehearsal dates and be available for specified dates during the touring period. Each role will be split between 2 cast members. Details will be available during the audition workshop. Performers will be paid at Equity standard rates. Travel, accommodation and subs are covered during rehearsals and on tour.
