CALL OUT for Dancers / Choreographers

with No Comments

JUSTICE IN MOTION are seeking 2-3 dancers (male or female), to join the team for their new project MOVING TOGETHER. We particularly welcome applications from BAME artists.

We are looking for committed individuals of any age (16+), with strong dance and choreographic skills, engaging personalities, and an enthusiasm for socio-critical performance.

MOVING TOGETHER Is a creative collaboration between Justice in Motion and anthropology researcher Dr Bronwyn Tarr (Oxford University), about Loneliness & Connectivity.

Due to Covid-19, this project has shifted predominately online. It has been adapted according to Government restrictions, and somewhat inspired by the implications of it, since we all have faced isolation and potentially loneliness in recent months. The first phases will now take place online (video gift creation, flashmob, and short film), and once safe to do so, we will be working towards a staged dance piece for presentation early 2021.

Further information about the project can be found HERE.

We are working with members of the public who have lived experience of loneliness and asking them to share their thoughts and ideas about how they feel about it, during a phone call. These interviews are turned into short soundtracks & choreographies that are being filmed, and then returned to the participants as ‘video gifts’. These gifts will also be available on a digital platform, openly accessible to the public, whom are invited to learn these short choreographies, and then join in with an Online Flashmob as part of IF Oxford in October 2020.
The dancers will be required to choreograph & dance several of these short choreographies.

Selected dancers will be paid according to Equity rates.

MOVING TOGETHER is supported by TORCH, Oxford University, Arts Council of England, Oxford City Council, IF Oxford, and the Archway Foundation.
